Our community theatre asked me to organize accessories for an upcoming historical play. Two scarves are almost identical in value, but one is dusty rose and the other muted rust. On stage, the rusty shade looks intentional and brings life to the costume. In lobby daylight, however, it casts an orange reflection beneath the chin. Under daylight, the rose fabric settles nicely despite looking flat on stage. Neither scarf belongs to us, and the production has no replacement allowance. For a fair check, I photographed each option using the same manual white balance. The images confirm the shift, yet choosing the relevant lighting remains difficult. I checked this what colors look good on me page for a repeatable comparison method. That approach clarified the difference between value, undertone, and reflected color. The likely compromise is the rose scarf under a less amber lighting cue. This seems safer because one scene takes place beside the lobby windows. Do experienced wardrobe volunteers choose for the dominant scene or the changing light? The goal is consistency on stage, not proving a permanent palette category.
