Recording facial proportions carefully

Our family archive has two portraits that may show the same person at different ages. A small change in head position makes the jaw look noticeably different between the pictures. My aim is to record the outline carefully without using it to establish who someone is. Separate notes about the forehead, cheekbones and chin would probably be more useful than one label. I have bookmarked face shape calculator as a possible comparison reference. Before using it, I would like a sensible way to mark uncertainty caused by pose. A separate crop could make comparison easier, provided the untouched photographs remain available beside it. Has anyone used a simple description sheet for this kind of portrait comparison? An unresolved category would be acceptable if the notes explain what can actually be seen. The notes should remain understandable without access to our earlier conversation.
